The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has imposed a penalty of Rs 1 billion on Vodafone India for providing subscriber local dialling (SLD) services in violation of existing licence norms, say news reports.
Between 2003 and 2005, the operator provided SLD facility to customers, which reduced the roaming charges payable by the company to the government on long distance calls.
