DoT has returned the application filed by TTSL for starting NLD ser vices. Currently, the company outsources its NLD requirements to group firm, VSNL, as it does not have its own infrastructure. However, with the NLD licence, TTSL would have been able to lease a line from VSNL and not pay for it on a per-minute basis.
DoT has reportedly raised two objections. The first relates to security issues, and the second to the premise on which VSNL was made to invest Rs 8.36 billion in TTSL in order to get access to a captive subscriber base.
