DoT has amended the security conditions for setting up and operating mobile towers along international borders. According tothe new conditions, towers and related machinery should be located at a sufficient distance from the border for the signals to fade before they cross the border. Further, for towers that are within 10 km of the India-Pakistan and India-China borders, the telecom companies will have to seek approval from the army in addition to DoT.
