DoT has allocated BWA spectrum to Reliance Industries Limited (RIL)-owned Infotel Broadband Services, Bharti Airtel, Aircel and Tikona Broadband for the circles in which they have won licences.
The remaining winners, Qualcomm and Augere, will be allotted their share of spectrum only after they acquire telecom licences to operate in the country. Most of these operators have already entered into discussions with vendors such as Samsung, Motorola and Ericsson for deploying either Wi-Max or long term evolution technology for providing BWA services.
