The government has given Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s (BSNL) chairman Pravin Kumar Purwar the additional charge of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) for six months, effective immediately.

As per the notification released by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Purwar would not be entitled to any additional remuneration during the six-month period of holding the additional charge of MTNL.

Prior to joining BSNL as the chairman and managing director (CMD), Purwar held the top position at MTNL which operates in Mumbai and Delhi only. However, following the superannuation of Anupam Shrivastava, former BSNL CMD, Purwar was appointed as the chairman of the telco on July 1, 2019.
