The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has formed eight teams to discuss issues related to spectrum, mergers and acquisitions, indigenous manufacturing and security, according to news reports.
Other issues likely to be discussed include renewal of operators? licences, the minimum number of operators in each circle post merger, spectrum pricing on consolidation, spectrum transfer charges and bringing telecom infrastructure providers under the licencing framework.
The teams have also been asked to take into account certain observations made by the Shivraj V. Patil committee.
