A high-ranking official from the Ministry of Finance reportedly informed the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) examining the 2G spectrum issue that the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had disregarded a 2003 Cabinet decision to fix the price of spectrum in consultation with the Ministry of Finance.
Further, the official said that the Ministry of Finance?s contentious note was a joint effort by various ministries. The note had suggested that P. Chidambaram, who was Minister of Finance at the time, could have pushed for a spectrum auction in 2008.
