DoT has directed internet service providers (ISPs) to refrain from providing unlicensed virtual private network (VPN) services.
According to the department, some ISPs are providing VPN services in contravention of the terms and conditions of their licence agreement. The licence stipulates that the licensee shall not engage in provision of any other telecom service unless so licensed.
