The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has sent notices to the telecom operators, demanding around Rs 219.19 billion as upfront payment for spectrum bought in the recent auctions.
Operator wise, the DoT has sought Rs 150.19 billion from Reliance Jio, Rs 63.23 bllion from Bharti Airtel and Rs 5.74 billion from Vodafone Idea as upfront payment if the operators choose the spread their dues over 16 years.
The telcos need to make the upfront payment in 10 working days.
