The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is continuing its efforts to secure the country?s telecom networks.
As per news reports, DoT is considering roping in Verint Systems, an Israeli company, to provide solutions for intercepting encryption services on smartphones. Further, it is believed that Verint Systems may also be asked to provide a solution for the interception of location-based servers.
Meanwhile, Verint Systems has reportedly expressed its interest in providing the technology backbone to intercept encrypted communications, such as Gmail, Yahoo! mail and BlackBerry.
It will reportedly carry out these tasks in collaboration with the country?s Computer Emergency Response Team, which is responsible for responding to any cyber security related incidents and ensure a secure environment for information technology enabled services.
