The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has assigned signalling point codes to Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) for its international and national long distance services. The codes have been allotted to the telecom operator in the Mumbai, Delhi, Karnataka and Kolkata circles.

The signalling point codes are required by the telecom operators to establish interconnection between two networks. According to DoT?s regulations, the codes have to be used within six months of allocation. Any failure to use them in the given time would lead to withdrawal of the point codes for the telecom operator?s use.

RJIL had won spectrum in the 1800 MHz band across 14 circles and 2300 MHz band in all 22 circles. It is planning to launch 4G services in around 800 cities across the country in mid-2015. The company will offer 4G dongles and ‘mi-fi devices’ in the initial phase of the launch. The ‘mi-fi’ devices would allow users to access 4G services on any Wi-Fi enabled phone.
