The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has asked Tata Communications Limited to revise its international expansion plans.

DoT has raised objections to the company?s plans, keeping in mind the performance of the company’s existing international subsidiaries and joint ventures.

DoT has asked the company to review the performance of its existing subsidiaries and justify creating new subsidiaries in international markets, which requires high investments, in the absence of surplus funds. In August 2011, the company had informed DoT of its plans to create subsidiary companies in Malaysia and New Zealand.
