The two operators have missed three earlier deadlines set by DoT for deploying the same. DoT has termed BlackBerry services as security threat as security agencies are unable to decode the communication between BlackBerry customers.
Both BSNL and MTNL are in talks with Israel-based company, Verint, for developing a solution for intercepting Blackberry services. BSNL has about 30,000 Blackberry customers across 20 circles and MTNL has 7,000 customers in Delhi and Mumbai.
