The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Telecom Infrastructure Association of India (TAIPA) have reviewed the preparedness of telecom services and infrastructure in India’s coastal states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

DoT has reportedly reviewed the readiness to combat the second storm and aftereffects of cyclone Nivar and how to continue the delivery of seamless mobile voice and data services.

The areas that are likely to be impacted due to the cyclone include Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Thenkasi, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Theni, Madurai and Sivagangai in Tamil Nadu, and Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta in Kerala.
