The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has assigned spectrum in the 3400-3600 MHz band range to Vodafone Idea, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio.
The telcos will use this spectrum to demonstrate India-specific 5G use cases in collaboration with their vendor partners during the India Mobile Congress (IMC) in New Delhi.
The government has also invited Chinese vendors Huawei and ZTE for participation. Further, DoT has directed the participants showcasing their 5G technology use cases to coordinate and share spectrum in the 3.4 GHz-3.6 GHz as well as 26 GHz-28 GHz frequency bands during the event.
The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) will be coordinating with the participants.
