DoT accepts BSNL’s offer to surrender its BWA spectrum

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has reportedly accepted Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited?s (BSNL) offer to surrender its broadband wireless spectrum in most circles.

After BSNL returns the spectrum, DoT may initiate a fresh round of auctions to sell this spectrum.

Prior to this, BSNL had offered to surrender its broadband wireless spectrum after its plans to rollout Wi-Max services via a franchisee model failed to fructify.

Meanwhile, the operator is reportedly yet to finalise the number of circles it wants to surrender spectrum in.
