In continuation of the Reliance Infratel-Etisalat DB issue, the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) has asked Etisalat DB not to transfer its equipment currently with Reliance Infratel, say news reports.
Reliance Infratel had approached TDSAT filing a petition against Etisalat to recover outstanding dues worth Rs 12 billion, for providing its telecom infrastructure to the operator. It has filed a similar case against S Tel and is looking to recover Rs 700 million from the operator.
Prior to this, TDSAT had asked Etisalat DB to respond to Reliance Infratel?s petition within two weeks. As per news reports, Standard Chartered Bank, a creditor of Etisalat DB, disposed during the case?s proceedings. The bank reportedly disputed Reliance Infratel?s claims on grounds that the case was already filed before the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT). Therefore, it was vital that the bank give its opinion as well.
Meanwhile, with regard to the company?s claim against S Tel, TDSAT reportedly barred the operator from transferring its property to a third party until the Delhi High Court takes a final decision on this issue. Also, the tribunal asked Reliance Infratel not to bar the company from accessing its towers.
