Digital Infrastructure Providers Association (DIPA) has written to Raj Kumar, IAS chief secretary, Government of Gujarat requesting for timely support during the forthcoming cyclone “Biparjoy” impacting districts such as Kutch, Devbhumi, Dwarka, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Junagarh and Morbi in Gujarat.
In order to contain the effect of this situation on telecom services, DIPA seeks Gujarat government’s urgent support and intervention to ensure the availability of telecom connectivity on 24*7 basis to meet the urgent disaster situation.
Commenting on the request, T.R.Dua, director-general, DIPA, said, ”In view of above, we have requested Raj Kumar, IAS Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat for his urgent intervention and support to ensure facilities are taken care of for ensuring uninterrupted telecom operations in the State in this difficult and challenging situation.”
DIPA has requested Gujarat government for unrestricted access to telecom personnel for accessing telecom sites, availability of diesel for telecom towers, availability of power, cell on wheels deployment and contact details of dedicated nodal officers from electricity department/distribution companies (DISCOMs), home (police), petroleum who can be contacted for any support required for telecom infrastructure issues during the period.
Dua added, “All our IP’s members are proactive and have taken necessary steps to ensure connectivity 24/7 in the areas which have been affected by the ongoing cyclone and all the background arrangements like additional DG sets, battery banks, spare parts, stocking of diesel are taken care off.”
