Digital Infrastructure Providers Association (DIPA) has appointed Dhananjay Joshi, managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO), Summit Digitel as the chairman and Sandeep Girotra, CEO, American Tower Corporation (ATC) India as the vice chairman (VC) of the association. The changes in the leadership management will come into effect from October 1, 2023. The telecom industry body concluded its annual general body meeting (AGM) for the financial year 2022-23, with the announcement of its leadership for the term 2023-24.

Dhananjay Joshi takes over as chairman, DIPA from Akhil Gupta, chairman, Bharti Enterprises Limited who served as chairman of DIPA since 2011, while Sandeep Girotra takes over as VC of DIPA from Amit Sharma, former executive vice president (EVP) at ATC.

During DIPA’s AGM, Akhil Gupta accepted the request of the executive committee (EC) members to hold the position of patron member, DIPA, and Amit Sharma agreed to be DIPA’s special invitee for all the EC meetings of DIPA to provide insights, advice, and expertise to help steer the association’s activities.

Speaking at the DIPA’s AGM, Akhil Gupta, former chairman, DIPA, said, “DIPA as an industry association have indeed played a significant role in ensuring seamless connectivity through the years especially during the tough times like covid and natural disasters, in driving innovation and contributing to the digital revolution in the Indian telecom ecosystem. As the telecom industry evolves with emerging technologies like 5G and beyond, there will be a continuous need for shaping and adapting regulatory policies. DIPA will continue to advocate for policies that support innovation, investment, and fair competition in the industry.”

Meanwhile, Amit Sharma, former VC, DIPA, said, “During my tenure as VC, I have had the privilege of witnessing the remarkable growth and progress of DIPA. Together, we have tackled complex challenges, explored new opportunities, and made significant strides toward our collective goals. I have every confidence that this momentum will continue, and DIPA will reach even greater heights in the future.”

Further, Dhananjay Joshi, chairman, DIPA, said, “It is indeed a great privilege and an honour for me to assume the role of chairman of DIPA. Additionally, Sandeep Girotra, VC, DIPA, said, “I express my sincere thanks to all the DIPA EC members for reposing their confidence in me.
