Dinesh Dhut began his professional journey in 1995 as an engineer in a small start-up in the UPS industry. Subsequently, in 2002, he joined Ador Powertron Limited and worked in purely technical roles. His stint with Vertiv, where he currently works as senior director, DC telecom engineering, began in 2007 when he joined Emerson Network Power Limited, which was spun off as Vertiv in 2016.
In his current role, Dhut is responsible for building a product roadmap for the company’s telecom business, managing the entire telecom product line and specifying market requirements for current and future products. “I look after the overall product leadership and execution including market requirements, product contracts and positioning with a special focus on customers,” he says.
Having worked closely with telecom clients at Vertiv, he feels that the emergence of technologies such as 5G and IoT will be a game changer for the telecom sector. He also believes that technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning will be used more extensively by telecom operators in the future.
However, reducing energy consumption and applying energy conservation best practices in future 5G infrastructure remain challenges for customers. “Hence, our emphasis is on developing products such as high efficiency and high power density rectifiers with advanced controller features that are compatible with lithium-ion batteries as well as solar-led hybrid solutions. Our top priority is to help telecom companies by offering innovative models, high efficiency equipment, green energy hybrid solutions, and advanced fuel management solutions to reduce their overall power consumption and fuel usage,” he says.
For Dhut, one of the high points of his career was getting a Telecommunication Engineering Centre certification for Vertiv’s telecom products. “With this, we were able to enhance our services and develop superior and higher quality products,” he says.
Dhut is a graduate from Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj College of Engineering, Shegaon, Amravati University, and holds a PGDM (marketing) degree from the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. His core strengths include his leadership, management, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. He believes in building healthy relationships with his team and keeping them motivated.
He usually unwinds by taking small adventure trips with his friends and family, and likes to visit holy places. He also enjoys listening to music, especially vintage Kishore Kumar songs. His family comprises his wife and two children.
