The Delhi High Court has asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to explain why it did not name Mukesh and Anil Ambani in the international call re-routing case. The Court will now re-open the case on January 25, 2012. This case pertains to the erstwhile Reliance Infocomm re-routing international calls as local ones.

Prior to this, the CBI had challenged an order issued by the Central Information Commission’s (CIC), which directed it to make available records relating to this case.

The CBI had said that disclosing such information would provide the other accused in this case adequate ground  to ask the agency to discharge them.

In 2010, the CBI had charged five top ranking officials of the erstwhile Reliance Infocomm in relation to this case.
