The Delhi High Court has asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to respond to Siddharth Behura, former secretary, Department of Telecommunications? (DoT) bail request. Behura is one of the individuals indicted in the 2G spectrum case.
While issuing a notice to the CBI, the court also asked the agency to file a status report by December 1, 2011, the date on which the bail requests of the other individuals indicted in the case will be heard.
Behura had challenged the special CBI court?s order rejecting his bail request. The agency had refused him bail on grounds that the charges against him and the other individuals were of a very serious nature.
Behura, in his bail application, had told the court that the case?s trial has already begun and so evidence cannot be tampered with.
