To further push the adoption of e-Governance services amongst citizens, government has asked the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) to launch the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) 2.0.
Further, government has directed the Ministry of Communications and IT to commission an independent assessment of progress and impact of NeGP during the Eleventh Five Plan period. An apex committee comprising officials from DeitY, Department of Telecommunications and the Cabinet Secretariat has also taken a decision to appoint dedicated mission leaders and project teams for mission mode projects (MMPs). As per the committee, the envisaged health and education services for the citizens should be rolled out in MMPs and should be integrated with electronic transaction aggregation and analysis layer (e-Taal).
e-Taal is a web portal for dissemination of e-transactions statistics of national and state level e-Governance projects, including MMPs. About 1.24 billion e-transactions have been reported on e-Taal till date.
In addition, the committee has asked DeitY to finalise the criteria and format for results-framework document, in consultation with MMP departments by December 31, 2013. Further, the committee has also decided to bring tenders of over Rs 1 million under e-procurement ambit from January 1, 2014.
