Deepak Singh Thakur comes with over 21 years of customer engagement experience in the area of building energy efficient, robust, highly available, and intelligent critical physical infrastructures.

In his current role as business head, UPS and data centre solutions, CISBU, Delta Electronics India,  Thakur looks after the growth of the company’s communication and information solutions (CIS) business unit for UPS, data centre solutions, critical cooling, APFC solutions business in  India and the SAARC countries.

Thakur believes that data is the new oil, and data centres are the new refinery. Emerging trends such as the  adoption of the internet of things (IoT), digitalisation of business operations, introduction of 5G and Industry 4.0, as well as a growing smartphone population will lead to huge data generation. This data will be very precious for businesses and they would want to store, compute and analyse it to make strategic business decisions. In the coming years, industry will see a growth in Edge and hyperscale data centres, driven by IoT and digitalisation.

According to him, Delta Electronics is a fast growing company with customers having stringent uptime requirements and energy efficiency goals. “We understand these challenges and co-convert them into opportunities. We have helped our data centre clients power more kW per rack within the same space. We also have huge prospects in critical backup power and data centre solutions.”

One of his most memorable assignments is when he helped a customer fit in a 2.4 MW UPS power for a space designed for only a 1.5 MW UPS. “We had multiple discussions with the customer, proposed various options and could finally manage it. With our solutions, we helped our client save 50-60 per cent space over the conventional design,” he adds.

His never-say-die attitude and good listening skills are among his strengths. Thakur says his management style is similar to that of a motivational coach. “I like to get the best out of my team and align their strengths and capabilities to be more successful.”

In his spare time, Thakur enjoys travelling, reading, listening to music and playing chess. He likes to spend quality time with his family and friends. His father is a retired army officer and his mother is a perfect homemaker. His wife is a working professional and they have two daughters.
