Dayanidhi Maran, former Minister of Telecommunications and IT, appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in relation to the alleged irregularities in 2G spectrum allocation during his tenure.

Prior to this, the CBI had questioned his brother Kalanidhi Maran. During the questioning, Maran is understood to have denied all the allegations against him, including his role in the Aircel takeover by Maxis.

Former Aircel Chief C Sivasankaran had alleged that Maran, as the then Minister of Telecommunications and IT, had favoured the Maxis Group?s takeover of Aircel. In return, investments were made by the company through the Astro network in Sun TV owned by the Maran family.
