Datawind has launched two low-cost smartphones with free internet plans from Reliance Communications for the Indian market.

While Tte PocketSurfer 2G4 is a 3.5-inch, dual SIM, EDGE network compatible smartphone priced at RS 1,999, PocketSurfer 3G4 is a 4-inch, dual SIM, dual camera, 3G network compatible smartphone, priced at Rs 2,999. The phones come with a year of free access to basic internet services provided by Reliance Communications. Users can browse any website, access photos, and other popular sites such as Facebook, Google Maps and Wikipedia but cannot stream video or audio. Datawind will pay Reliance Communications for the data consumed by the users.

The handset will be available at 3,600 retail points across the country by end-March 2015. The company plans to double the retail outlets by June 2015.
