According to Sapient Global Markets, a part of Sapient Corporation, the total amount of data generated worldwide is expected to grow to 2,700 exabytes during 2012, registering an increase of 48 per cent over 2011.
As per the company, about five exabytes of data is created every two days. And over the next five years, big data along with data analytics is going to be the priority for global markets. Currently, only a few players in the capital and commodities market have started investing in big data.
The challenges facing the growth of big data across countries include managing trade and transaction data, contracts and documents, market data, opinion, research and social media.
Going forward, data management and real-time analytics would be crucial to the evolution and growth of financial markets.
