As per Common Service Centres (CSC) e-Governance Services India, data consumption on the network of CSC special purpose vehicle (SPV) in rural India has seen a surge of nearly 100 per cent within a month. The major spike in data consumption has been recorded since the time the lockdown started.

CSC SPV recorded an increase in data consumption from 2.7 TB on March 10, 2020 to 4.7 TB as on March 30, 2020.

As per CSC SPV, beside the surge of data consumption, there has been a high demand of fibre-to-home (FTTH) in the rural areas, with more than 300,000 subscribers registering across 50,000 gram panchayats (GP) for FTTH during the period.

According to the CSC data, Wi-Fi Choupal has more than 1.2 million registered subscribers who use this as a supplement to their mobile connection. Through the CSC Wi-fi Choupal services, CSC provides Wi-Fi hotspot in around 25,000 GPs.
