Cyient has announced the appointment of Sukamal Banerjee as the executive director and chief executive officer (CEO) for a five-year term, effective February 19, 2025. He will also be designated as a key managerial personnel and a part of the senior management team from the same date. The appointment is subject to shareholder and central government approvals, as applicable.
Banerjee holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA in finance and strategy. With over 30 years of experience in the engineering, research and development (ER&D), and technology sectors, he is recognised as an industry leader. He spent a significant part of his career at HCL Technologies, where he served as corporate vice president overseeing the engineering business. Most recently, he was the CEO and a Board Member at Xoriant, a leading digital engineering company.
Throughout his career, Banerjee has been instrumental in driving business growth and forging market-leading partnerships in engineering and technology domains. His expertise spans Digital Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML), and emerging technologies across multiple sectors, including communications, semiconductors, energy, transportation, automotive and mobility, and healthcare and life sciences. His experience aligns with Cyient’s core customer segments, positioning him to lead the company’s technological transformation and global expansion.
