The Common Service Centres (CSC) is reportedly aiming to deploy around 500,000 fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) connections for facilitating high-speed internet access in rural India by September 2020.

The centres have so far provided 42,360 fibre-based connections in India’s rural and remote locations.

The CSCs are government’s special purpose vehicle (SPV) focused at delivering e-governance services in a cost-efficient manner.  At present, there are more than 300,000 such centres in India.
