
In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Milind Deora, Minister for State of Communications and IT has said that the number of complaints registered by customers against operators have reduced substantially after the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released its guidelines on unsolicited commercial communications on September 27.
Deora said, “Prior to the launch of the Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations, 2010 regulation, on an average, 47,454 complaints were received per month. The complaints have come down after the implementation. As per the data, a total of 5,979 complaints were lodged by customers from September 27 to November 15, 2011.?
As per the regulations, customers have to contact their operators to register in the National Customer Preference Registry.
