A complaint system designed to register violations of the electromagnetic field (EMF) radiation norms by tower companies has come into operation, say news reports.
The complaint system will be managed by Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL). It will be responsible for testing telecom sites for radiation. Complainants can approach TCIL for testing telecom sites by paying Rs 4, 000 per site. However, in case the site to be tested is found to be violating EMF radiation norms, then the complainant would not be charged any fee.
The test results for telecom sites will be made available on the website of Department of Telecommunications and will also be shared with the complainant through email and SMS.
TCIL will set-up a five member team to look into the complaints.
