The key objective of common service centres (CSCs) is to deliver various citizen-centric services such as government-to-citizen, business-to-citizen, financial inclusion, educational and skill development services. In August 2015, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) had initiated a project, called CSC 2.0, under the Digital India programme, to be implemented over a period of four years (till August 2019). The aim is to set up at least one CSC at the gram panchayat (GP) level. As of February 28, 2018, a total of 292,481 CSCs are functioning across the country, of which 183,184 are at the GP level.
