
According to data released by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) the GSM subscriber base in the country reached 677.35 million by the end of June, 2012.
Bharti Airtel added two million users to take its total subscriber base to 187.30 million. It had a market share of 27.65 per cent in the period under consideration.
Meanwhile, Vodafone India added 1.22 million subscribers, taking its subscriber base to 153.70 million. It had a market share of 22.69 per cent.
Idea Cellular?s total GSM subscriber number stood at 117.16 million. The operator added 1.19 million new subscribers in June with a market share of 17.30 per cent. Uninor added 0.50 million new customers, taking its user base to 45.57 million. Videocon lost 0.66 million subscribers and its user base stood at 5.57 million.
With a subscriber base of 94.68 million Bharat Sanchar Nigam limited did not add a single subscriber in June, 2012. Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited with a subscriber base of 5.32 million added 162 new subscribers.
