Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) plans to take legal action in case the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) fails to auction excess spectrum held by the Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL), says news reports.
Earlier COAI had said that TTSL was awarded excess GSM spectrum in 2008. TTSL?s 2G licence was amongst those cancelled by the Supreme Court early this year. According to COAI with the cancellation of TTSL?s 2G licence by the Supreme Court, DoT should auction excess spectrum held by TTSL.
COAI has sought DoT?s response on the issue within seven days, failing which it will initiate legal action.
