The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) is likely to approach the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to cancel 19 of Tata Teleservices Limited’s (TTSL) GSM licences, say news reports.
COAI is of the view that that as per the Supreme Court’s February 2012 order, the 19 licences awarded to TTSL on January 2008 stand cancelled. Earlier, following the court order, DoT had cancelled 122 2G licences.
The industry body has sought the legal opinion of former solicitor general Rohinton Nariman on the matter.
