CloudExtel has appointed Deepak Saxena as senior vice president of wireline services. According to the firm, Saxena will be a part of the core leadership team and will be responsible for scaling and accelerating network-as-a-service (NaaS) for telecom service providers, internet service providers, data centres and prominent over-the-top (OTT) players. He will be based out of Mumbai.

Saxena has earlier worked at Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) as vice president from October 2018 to June 2022. At Vi, he headed a consolidated unit of optical fibre network comprising planning projects and operations for pan-India.

Prior to that, Saxena was also the vice president of Idea Cellular Limited from August 2008 to September 2018, where he was responsible for planning projects and operations of end-to-end transmission network.

He has also served as the deputy director general of the state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) from January 1995 to February 2008, where he was in charge of the western Maharashtra region and tech assistant to the chief general manager for western India.
