According to Synergy Group, cloud infrastructure equipment market reported $10.1 billion revenues in the second quarter of 2013. The market was led by Cisco followed by IBM and HP.

The research firm says that computing systems accounted for 47 per cent share of the total cloud infrastructure equipment revenues, while networking made up for a quarter of the total revenues and storage accounted for 22 per cent revenue share. In addition, cloud management and software as a service were the other two key categories driving revenue growth in the cloud infrastructure equipment market.

Synergy Research forecasts that over the next few years, the cloud infrastructure equipment market will witness steady growth. The key growth drivers for the segment will be the roll out of new data centres and increasing demand for cloud infrastructure services. However, the industry will witness a shift in the spending from computing systems to storage and networking products and services.
