Webex India, a subsidiary of Cisco, has obtained the unified licence for national long distance (NLD) and international long distance (ILD) services from the government. With this, Webex can now provide enterprise grade national and international telecom connectivity.
Webex has become the first over-the-top (OTT) player to secure a telecom licence in India. At present, the company is a web-conferencing platform for enterprises and has already procured a virtual network operator licence in July 2022.
As per the company, the licence so obtained will enable it to connect with local and international data centre on its own and in a secured manner and will be used to enhance Webex platform.
