US-based network equipment manufacturer, Cisco has partnered with the Jaipur Development Authority to convert Jaipur into a smart city. The blueprint for the same is expected to be completed by end-July 2015.

Smart city infrastructure to be deployed will be aimed at improving the efficiency and quality of services received by 3.5 million residents of the city and over 40 million tourists that visit the city every year.
The digital infrastructure will include a connected transport system, interactive kiosks, wireless broadband, safety and security services, traffic management and environmental updates. There will also be a command and control centre as a response control room to manage the city. These technology solutions will also help city operators to improve infrastructure operations by sharing information in real time across agencies and systems.

The Indian government plans to develop 100 smart cities by 2022. In the last Budget, the finance ministry allocated Rs 70.60 billion for developing these smart cities.
