Cisco has launched software-defined manufacturing, and has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Rockwell Automation to launch a ‘Digital Skills for Industry’ skilling program.

According to the companies, the program seeks to address the growing skills gap in India’s manufacturing sector, and impart the next-generation of workers with essential digital skills, combining IT and operations technology (OT) curriculum in cybersecurity, networking, the internet of things (IoT), data science, artificial intelligence (AI), programming, and automation.

They further mentioned that bridging this skills gap is critical to ensure that India’s manufacturing industry remains globally competitive, efficient, and future-ready.
