Chunghwa Telecom is expecting approval from the National Communications Commission (NCC) for the launch of its internet protocol television (IPTV) business. However, NCC has reportedly asked Chunghwa Telecom to adjust its model of operation. It has stipulated that the company cannot directly operate channels or provide digital content on its broadband network.
Instead, it should lease channels to the interested parties for TV programme delivery. To this end, Chunghwa Telecom has sent a fee outline to NCC for companies interested in renting the carrier’s TV channels.
