Chunghwa Telecom is expected to buy more than a million customer premises equipment (CPE) units for its very high bit-rate digital subscriber line (VDSL) service in 2009. Taiwanese firms D-Link, Zyxel Communications and HwaCom Systems are among those lining up for the equipment orders, which could be worth up to $86.5 million. Chunghwa, which is Taiwan’s largest broadband internet provider, ordered 800,000 VDSL CPE units in 2008.
