
China’s fixed line service provider China Telecom has signed a multi-million euro contract with Alcatel-Lucent for a nationwide IP metro area network expansion. The contract has been secured through Alcatel-Lucent’s Chinese subsidiary, Alcatel Shanghai Bell. Under the contract, Alcatel-Lucent will provide an IP routing solution to China Telecom, thereby enabling it to provide IP services to residential and business customers. China Telecom will offer multiple IP-based services such as 3G wireless broadband, IPTV and virtual private network services using a single network infrastructure.
