China Unicom is planning to invest $265 million in Tibet to upgrade its communications infrastructure. The company has signed a cooperation pact with the Government of Tibet Autonomous Region for this. The investment, which will be spread over a period of five years, will be used to upgrade the telecom infrastructure, e-governance and information infrastructure of small businesses, especially in rural areas.
