
China Telecom Corporation, a fixed line service provider, is in the process of upgrading its existing broadband access network across 26 provinces in China to prepare for the delivery of tripleplay services and has selected Alcatel for the upgradation. The agreement was signed through Alcatel Shanghai Bell, Alcatel’s flagship Chinese company. The Alcatel solution will be deployed in South China’s 18 provinces and North China’s eight provinces.
China Telecom plans to offer its subscribers a series of high quality broadband services such as very high speed internet access, video conferencing, IP-TV and other multimedia services.
