China Mobile has posted a 5.7 per cent year-on-year increase in revenue for the first quarter, to CNY 134.7 billion. Meanwhile, it?s EBITDA increased by 0.8 per cent to CNY 61.2 billion, and net profit increased by 0.3 per cent to CNY 27.9 billion.
The operator added 16.01 million new customers in the quarter, taking its total user base to 726.31 million at the end of March 2013. It?s 3G user base increased by 26.44 million, to reach 114.37 million customers.
The operator?s average revenue per user declined to CNY 63 per month from CNY 71 in the year-earlier period. This was attributed to an increase in the number of customers holding multiple SIM cards and a decline in average minutes per customer to 488 per month from 503.
Also, the increase in the number of 3G users boosted mobile data traffic, to a total of 103.4 billion MB from 89.7 billion a year ago. SMS also continued to increase, to 192.7 billion messages versus 182.6 billion a year earlier.
