China Mobile Communication Corporation has shown interest in bidding for the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL). The Government of Pakistan has offered to sell 51 per cent of the state-owned telecommunication company with management control. The privatisation commission has received expressions of interest (EoIs) from 18 telecom giants, of which eight were declared as pre-qualified for the next round of due diligence. The eight include SingTel, Singapore; Emirates Telecommunication Corporation; Telekom Malaysia; Mobile Telecommunication Company, Kuwait; Saudi Oger Limited, Saudi Arabia; Turkcell; China Mobile Communication Corporation; and Saudi Telecom Company.
