China Mobile and Taiwan’s HTC Corporation have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a long-term alliance in time division synchronous code division multiple access (TD-SCDMA) research and development. The operator intends to invest more than 47 million yuan ($6.88 million) in its strategic alliance with HTC. Besides the focus on TD-SCDMA, the two will also study LTE technology. China Mobile’s other mobile vendor partners include Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, the Lenovo Group, Huawei Technologies and ZTE. The company is also in talks with Nokia Corporation for a future alliance.
