
China Mobile and China Unicom have entered into $1 billion and $700 million tie-ups respectively with Ericsson for 2G/3G mobile communication equipment and related services. According to the contracts, Ericsson will continue providing China Mobile with green solutions in addition to expanding its GSM/GPRS network coverage and capacity in 18 provinces. With respect to China Unicom, Ericsson will be the key supplier to upgrade China Unicom’s GSM networks in 10 provinces and provide it with W-CDMA core network and/or wireless access systems in 15 provinces.
